Two ways a guest books

The same guest, two routes. The difference isn't the booking. It's who owns the guest afterwards.

    The economics are different here

Three things that shape every decision on this page.

The platforms rank for your neighbourhood

Search for somewhere to stay or eat in an area and the travel sites are what comes back. A property that isn't found on its own terms is discovered through a platform, pays a share of every booking, and never learns who the guest was. Being findable directly is what changes that.

Photos and reviews carry most of the decision

Photos and reviews decide it before the copy does. People look at pictures, scan recent reviews, check the rate, and decide. What they read afterwards is amenities, accessibility and policies. If your own site shows fewer and worse photographs than the listing on a booking platform, you've lost before the rate is even compared.

People search by area and occasion

Almost nobody types your property name until they already know it. They search for a neighbourhood, a date, an occasion, a room for forty people. Every one of those is a page you either have or you don't, and increasingly an answer an assistant gives without a search at all.

How we work with hotels, restaurants and venues

Six areas, in the order they usually need attention.

    1. Make booking direct the obvious choice

The booking engine moves to within one tap of every page, availability and what's included are stated plainly, and whatever you already offer direct guests is made visible instead of buried. Then we connect the engine properly, so a booking reaches your system without anyone retyping it and every booking route is measured, including the phone.

Every booking route is tracked from the start, including the phone.

      Book direct
Engine one tap from every page
What you offer direct, made visible
Whatever the property already gives direct guests
×Engine opens on a different domain

No platform commission on the rate, and the guest relationship stays with the property.

    2. Win the neighbourhood search

People search by area and by occasion far more than by property name: a hotel near a venue, a restaurant for a particular evening, a space for forty people. We build the pages that answer those searches and work the Google Business Profile that decides the map results, which for restaurants is very close to the whole game.

Menus, opening hours and booking links kept current, because stale ones cost covers.

      How people actually search
      "hotel near the arena"
      "private dining downtown"
→ no page for private events
      ×"wedding venue los angeles"
→ one paragraph on the homepage
    3. Reviews, watched as part of local visibility

Ratings move both the map result and the guest, so we track them as part of your local visibility: what's arriving, on which platforms, and how it's moving the results you appear in. Replies come from you, since they should sound like the property rather than an agency, and we'll flag the ones worth answering first.

Recent reviews count for far more than a high average earned three years ago.

Every review answered within a week

    4. Pages that survive the comparison

A guest opens your site in one tab and a booking platform in another. Your room pages need at least as many photographs, the same clarity about what's included, real reviews on the page, and none of the marketing language that gets skipped. The job isn't to be more beautiful than the platform listing, it's to be more useful than it.

Photography is the highest-return investment most properties can make.

      No reviews shown
      Rate unclear
      Platform listing28 photos
      Reviews inline

The guest is comparing these two tabs, not reading your copy.

    5. Spend aimed at the gaps in the calendar

You tell us which dates need filling, and the spend goes there rather than running flat through the year. Retargeting picks up the people who looked and left, which in this business is most of them.

Reported in bookings and covers, not impressions.

    6. Named when someone asks an assistant

Travel is one of the categories people hand to an assistant first: where to stay near something, where to eat before a show, somewhere with a room for a party of forty. The answer names two or three places and stops. We make the property readable to those systems, with structured data for the rooms, the location and what's on offer, content that answers those questions directly, and details that agree across every site they draw on.

Then we track a fixed set of those questions every month, so you can see whether you're being named.

      Assistant answer
"Where should I stay near the arena?"
Three places come up nearby, including your property.
Rooms and amenities in structured data
      Hours disagree on one listing

The same details that fix this fix the map results too.

Can you actually reduce our commission costs?

Indirectly, by making the property easier to find and book with directly. We work on the site, the booking integration, the local and assistant search presence and the paid campaigns; we don't set your rates or advise on your platform contracts, which are yours to manage. Nobody should promise you'll leave the travel platforms behind either. They generate real discovery, and the sensible goal is keeping them for reach while winning back the guests already looking for you by name.

Do you work with restaurants as well as hotels?

Yes. Restaurants, restaurant groups, and event and wedding venues. The work leans further towards the map results, reviews and reservation platforms, and less towards booking engines, but the shape of it is the same.

Can you connect our booking or reservation system?

Usually. Our developers build API integrations joining the website to booking, reservation and property management systems so a booking reaches your system directly. If yours has no way in, we'll tell you rather than build something fragile around it.

Do you run our social media?

We can, as a separate service alongside the marketing work. The arrangement that works is that you supply the photography and video, since it has to come from the property and the kitchen, and we handle the strategy, the posting and the paid promotion behind it. Social is quoted on its own rather than folded into a marketing retainer, so you can see what it costs and decide separately.

    Do you provide photography?

We don't shoot it ourselves. We'll tell you exactly which rooms, angles and spaces the pages need, and work with your photographer, because on these pages the pictures do more than any copy we could write.

    How is it reported?

In direct bookings, enquiries and covers, with the source of each. Organic visibility and review activity follow as supporting detail. Phone bookings are tracked too, which for restaurants and venues is a large share of the total.
