One site, every screen

Drag the handle to narrow the screen. A responsive layout rebuilds itself at each size rather than shrinking everything down.

Three ways a website project goes wrong

All of them expensive, all of them avoidable.

The new site loses the old site's rankings

A redesign changes URLs, headings and internal links all at once. Done without a redirect map and a content audit, a business can launch something better-looking and lose half its search visibility in a fortnight. It's the most common way a good project turns into a bad quarter.

It looks right and loads slowly

Large hero images and a stack of plugins are easy to add and hard to notice on a desktop with fast internet. On a phone on mobile data, which is how most people will arrive, they're the difference between an enquiry and a back button.

It doesn't connect to anything

Leads get copied into the CRM by hand, bookings live in a separate system, stock counts disagree. The website ends up as a brochure sitting next to the business rather than part of how it runs.

How we build

Six areas, from the build through to keeping it running.

  1. WordPress or Shopify, built to be edited

We build on the platform that fits the job: WordPress where content and lead generation lead, Shopify where selling does. Either way the site is put together so your team can change copy, add a page or swap an image without calling us, because a site only we can edit is a site that goes stale.

No page builder so heavy that every edit costs a second of load time.

    Platform fit
    ✓WordPress
    Practices, firms, service businesses, content
    ✓Shopify
    Product catalogues, checkout, custom apps
    Headless or custom
Only when the requirement genuinely needs it
  2. Fast on a phone, on mobile data

We treat mobile loading as a requirement rather than a later optimisation: images sized and served in modern formats, fonts loaded without blocking, scripts kept to the ones that earn their place. The target is a page that's usable before someone gives up, measured on a mid-range phone rather than a designer's laptop.

Speed shows up in enquiries before it shows up in rankings.

    Mobile loading Sample
    Before
    4.8s
    Unsized hero, 14 plugins
    After
    1.6s
    Same design, rebuilt

Sample figures, not a client result.

  3. A short path from interest to enquiry

Most sites ask for too much too early. We cut forms back to what's genuinely needed to start a conversation, make the phone number tappable and visible without scrolling, and write buttons that say what happens next. Forms are properly labelled, the site works from the keyboard and contrast is checked, because a page that's awkward for some people to use is awkward for everyone. Then we track all of it, so the next round of changes is based on where people actually stop.

Every enquiry route is measured from launch day, not added afterwards. We build to standard accessibility practice; we don't offer legal opinions on it.

    The enquiry form
    11 fields
    4 fields
    Or tap to call
  4. Connected to the systems you already run

Our developers write the custom backend work and API integrations that join the website to the rest of the business: booking and reservation systems, CRM platforms, inventory and ERP, and custom Shopify apps where an off-the-shelf one doesn't exist. The point is that leads, bookings, orders and stock move without anyone retyping them.

If an existing plugin does the job properly, we use it and say so.

No manual re-entry between any two of them.

  5. Launching without losing what you've built

Before anything goes live we record what currently ranks and which URLs earn it, then map every old address to its new one. After launch we watch indexation, positions and enquiries closely for the first weeks, because the time to catch a migration problem is while it's still small.

A redesign should be invisible to search engines except as an improvement.

    Redirect map
    ✓/services/seo-la → /seo-services/
    ✓/about-us-2 → /about/
    ✓/blog/?p=118 → /guides/local-seo/
14 URLs with traffic, still unmapped

Checked against what actually ranks, not the sitemap.

  6. Looked after once it's live

A website isn't finished at launch. Platform and plugin updates land constantly, security patches matter more than anyone likes to think about, and things quietly break. We host and maintain the sites we build on a monthly retainer: updates applied and tested, backups kept, uptime watched, and small changes made without a quote for every one.

One number to call when something is wrong, rather than a host, a developer and an agency pointing at each other.

    What the retainer covers
✓Core, theme and plugin updates, tested
✓Backups, and a tested way to restore them
    ✓Uptime and security monitoring
✓Small content changes without a quote

Hosting included, because it is simpler for everyone.

WordPress or Shopify?

Shopify if selling products is the main job, because checkout, payments and inventory come solved. WordPress if content, services and lead generation lead, because it gives more freedom over page structure and integrations. Plenty of businesses run both, with a WordPress site and a Shopify store connected to it, and that's a normal outcome rather than a compromise.

Will a redesign hurt our search rankings?

It can, and that's the main risk in any rebuild. It happens when URLs change without redirects, when content that was ranking gets cut for design reasons, or when the new site is slower than the old one. We record what ranks before we start, map every URL, and monitor closely after launch.

Do you provide hosting?

Yes. We host the sites we build, as part of looking after them rather than as a product we sell on its own. It means one place to call when something breaks, instead of three suppliers pointing at each other. If you'd rather stay where you are, that's fine, and we'll work with whoever you use.

Can you improve our existing site instead of rebuilding it?

Often, yes, and it's usually the cheaper answer. If the foundations are sound, fixing speed, structure and the enquiry path gets most of the benefit for a fraction of a rebuild. We'll say which situation you're in before you commit to anything.

Who owns the site when it's finished?

You do. The code, the content, the domain and the accounts are yours, and nothing is held on our infrastructure as leverage. If you move to another agency, you take a working site with you.

What custom development do you provide?

Beyond WordPress and Shopify builds, our developers write custom backend work and API integrations connecting your site to booking and reservation systems, CRM platforms, inventory and ERP systems, and custom Shopify apps. The point is that leads, bookings, orders and stock move between systems without anyone retyping them.
