How a patient finds you

Step through the path a new patient actually takes. Every stage has a common failure point, and most practices lose people at the second one.

What's different about marketing a practice

Three things that don't apply to most other businesses.

Your profile decides it, not your website

Most patients choose before they reach your site. They see the map result, the star rating, the recent photos and how you reply to criticism, and that's the decision. A beautiful website behind a neglected Business Profile is a shop with a lovely interior and a dirty window.

Health ads get disapproved

Ad platforms apply extra rules to health advertising, on claims, before-and-after imagery, certification and how audiences can be targeted. Campaigns written without that in mind get rejected, or quietly limited, and the account never performs the way the projections said it would.

The enquiry is a phone call

Patients call. If those calls aren't tracked to the campaign, page or search that produced them, the practice is making budget decisions on the fraction of enquiries that happened to arrive by form.

How we work with practices

Five areas, in the order they usually need attention.

  1. The map result, per location

We work the Google Business Profile that feeds the map results: primary category matched to what you want to be found for, services listed individually, hours and insurance details current, and photographs that are recent. For a group, each site needs its own profile and its own page, or your locations compete with each other instead of covering more of the city.

Checked from each neighbourhood you draw patients from, not one city-wide average.

    Business Profile
    ×Primary category: "Doctor"
Should be the specialty patients search
    Photos 14 months old
    ×Second location shares one profile
    Hours and phone correct
  2. A page for each procedure worth having

Patients search for a procedure or a symptom, not for a practice. One services page listing twenty treatments ranks well for none of them. Each procedure you genuinely want more of needs its own page answering what the patient is anxious about: whether they're a candidate, what it costs, what recovery looks like, who will be doing it.

    What the patient typed
    "am i a candidate for..."
    → procedure page, candidacy section
    ×"how much does ... cost"
→ no page mentions cost at all
    ×"... recovery time"
→ buried in a blog post from 2021
  3. Reviews, as a process rather than a push

Ratings move the map results and they move the patient. What works is a routine your front desk can actually keep up with, asking at the right moment, plus replies to the difficult ones written in a way that reassures the next reader without discussing anyone's care.

A steady trickle beats a burst, which platforms treat with suspicion anyway.

    Review routine
    ★★★★★ 4.8 across 212 reviews
Asked at discharge, not by bulk email
Every review replied to within a week
    Replies avoid any clinical detail
  4. Ads written to be approved

We build health campaigns inside the platforms' rules from the first draft rather than appealing rejections afterwards: careful claims, imagery that meets the platforms' rules, and targeting that doesn't rely on the sensitive categories they won't allow. Tight geography, a real negative keyword list, and a landing page about the procedure that was searched for.

Medical keywords are expensive, so waste shows up quickly.

    Campaign check
    ×"Guaranteed results"
    ×Before-and-after imagery in the ad
    Claims worded to platform rules
Ad points at the procedure page

Built to be approved first time, rather than appealed later.

  5. Calls traced to what produced them

Patients call rather than fill in forms, so the phone is where most of the value arrives and where most practices are flying blind. Calls are attributed to the campaign, page or search behind them wherever tracking reaches, form enquiries are counted once, and the monthly report shows which marketing produced appointments rather than how many people visited.

What we report is booked-appointment enquiries, not sessions.

    Where the appointment came from
    Calls attributed by source
Map result, paid search, or direct
    Forms counted once
    ×Untracked calls, source unknown

Most of the enquiries, and usually the least measured.

Which practices do you work with?

Plastic surgery and med spas, dental practices, primary, urgent and concierge care, and specialist clinics including hair restoration, weight loss and fertility. The pattern is similar across them: local search decides who gets found, procedure pages decide who gets chosen, and the phone is where it lands.

What do you need from us to get started?

Read-only access to your analytics, ad accounts and Search Console, manager access to your Google Business Profile because the work includes posts, photos, services and categories, and one person at the practice who can approve content and answer a clinical question when one comes up. That's usually an hour of someone's time in the first fortnight and very little after that.

How long before a practice sees results?

Business Profile and tracking work can move within weeks, since it's mostly correcting and completing things. Competitive procedure rankings take several months, depending on the specialty and how much competition there is in your part of the city. Paid search produces enquiries much faster, which is often the right place to start.

Can you work with our booking or practice management system?

Usually. Our developers build API integrations connecting the website to booking and CRM systems, so an enquiry reaches your schedule without anyone retyping it. If yours doesn't offer a way in, we'll tell you plainly rather than build something fragile around it.

Do you guarantee new patients?

No. Anyone quoting you a patient number before seeing your market, your capacity and your current tracking is making it up. What we commit to is measuring every enquiry honestly and showing you the leading indicators every month.
